Sign on to the letter to Mayor Nutter and Councilman DiCicco!

Tuesday morning we sent a letter (read the full letter here) to Mayor Nutter and Councilman DiCicco explaining the dangers of such a rapid pace and asking the Councilman not to introduce the CED at this time. In the letter we call on them to immediately create a public, fair and transparent re-siting process for both Foxwoods and SugarHouse. Please review the letter and send an email to Mayor Nutter and Councilman DiCicco asking them to show integrity, be fair, and slow this process down. If you can, please do this now.

Councilman DiCicco has stated that he intends to introduce into Council this Thursday an amended CED zoning ordinance for Foxwoods at Market Street. The mere proposal of CED zoning will enable Foxwoods to proceed directly to the Planning Commission and begin the planning process behind closed doors without public input. The waterfront communities had 16 months to review Foxwoods' public plans for the waterfront site before Foxwoods was allowed to go to the Planning Commission. This is not the type of industry that should be fast tracked. The downtown communities deserve more time. There are currently no public plans for Foxwoods at Market Street, elected officials have not seem them...yet they are still willing to introduce the CED. There are no impact studies, nor has there been any chance for public input. This is not what transparency and good government looks like.
