The circus is in town!

Anti-Casino Circus: June 25

The GI resistance movement had the Oleo Strut coffeehouse, the gay rights movement had the Castro camera shop, and now the anti-casino movement has the No Slots Spot. Casino-Free Philadelphia and the No Casino in the Heart of Our City Coalition are launching a joint office at 718 Market Street — which just happens to be located a stone's throw from the proposed Foxwoods site.

Since the political process for forcing slots parlors on Philadelphia has been a sham from the beginning, we thought we'd hold our own grand opening circus — to shine a light on the mediocre performances our local politicians have been staging.

Anti-Casino Circus 12 noon, Thursday, June 25 No Slots Spot, 718 Market Street

You won't believe your eyes!

There will be circus acts, the likes of which have never before been seen in Philadelphia, including:

  • The Incredible Two-Faced Mayor!
  • The Invisible Plan!
  • High-Flying Casino Economics — without a net!
  • City Council Contortions!
  • The Foxwoods Site Shell Game!
  • The Amazing Shrinking Democracy!
  • And featuring numerous Daring Feats of Doublespeak!

For the first time in public view, see the sleight of hand, magical thinking and spectacle as our city leaders try to bring slots of Philly! We'll have cotton candy, games of change, and plenty of people from around Philadelphia who share your vision of a city safe from predatory gambling.

Run away with the circus!

To make sure the Anti-Casino Circus is a success, we're going to need your help. There's lots of outreach to do to spread the word about our wonderful new space, so we're holding two outreach days on Monday, June 22 and Tuesday, June 23, from noon to 2 pm.

Come for a couple hours — or just 30 minutes — and help us set up the action center, hand out flyers, and figure out where the elephant will go.

Just contact us if you're able to volunteer. Let us know which day you'd like to come in.

Thanks, as always, for all your support!
