Celebrate and commit to finishing the job

Casinos: Out of Chinatown and out of Philadelphia!

We have a victory to celebrate and renewed efforts to pledge. Please join us for a party next Tuesday at the No Slots Spot.

We've defeated a proposed casino in Center City and Chinatown. Buoyed by our results, we now need to finish the job. As we said last week, the threat from casinos remains — most imminently for South Philadelphia and Fishtown/Northern Liberties, but more broadly for every person who resides in our city.

We need to join together to stop all casinos in our city, wherever they are proposed.

Please join us next Tuesday with our allies as we take a moment to mark our victory and recommit ourselves to the struggle ahead.

Earlier this week, the No Casino in the Heart of the City coalition declared:

For the past year, our coalition has brought together Philadelphians from across neighborhoods and various interests and backgrounds to stand united against the fear, corruption and hopelessness that has been fertile ground for the proposed casinos. We united in our hope, our stories and our conviction that strong communities and strong cities are built from the ground up by the people who live and work here.

On Tuesday we'll share our stories, our hopes and our vision for a city that not only stops casinos, but addresses the larger issues of poverty and corruption. And we want to hear from you.

All are welcome to join us on Tuesday. As part of laying the groundwork for our continuing fight, we are suggesting a donation from each attendee — from as little as $5 to as much as you can afford.
